Student Dress Code Reminder

With warmer weather here, we want to remind everyone that our dress is enforced at all times.  Language in the dress code includes…

Necklines and/or armholes must not be too revealing.  All tops must completely cover the entire shoulder, midriff, waistline areas, and strapless, tank tops, and spaghetti strap tops are prohibited.  Shorts, skirts, and pants must rest on the natural waist.  The length of all skirts and shorts must come to a point on your leg where your arm and hand naturally extend.  No undergarments should be visible… Students who do not comply with the dress code will be asked to change or remove the inappropriate article of clothing and/or be given a lunch detention.  Student adherence to the dress code and appropriateness of student dress will be at the discretion of the school staff.

Our dress code can be found on page 21 of the Parent/Student Handbook and is supported by Board Policy 7:160

KWANDENGEZI 3-ON-3 CLASSIC / Honor Flight Chicago

Student Council continued their fund-raising drive by selling concessions

The LJHS 8th Annual KwaNdengezi 3-on-3 Basketball Classic raised $571 on February 17th.  Thirty boys and girls squads participated in the bracketed tournament.  Concessions were sold, pictures were taken, and the costumes continued to be the torunament's highlight.  Check out "Headlines" on the LJHS website to view more than sixty photos from the action.  All proceeds generated from the tournament have been added to the funds we have already raised for.... Honor Flight Chicago

Student Council continued their fund-raising drive by selling concessions and asking for donations at the 8th grade girls' basketball tournament game on March 6th.  The response was overwhelming.  With the money raised at the game and additional daily donations by students in the LRC we have now gone over the $2425,47 mark.  Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION FOR ALL FAMILIES!!!!

Immunization Requirements Changed in School Code

On September 27, 2011, an amendment was added to Section 665 of the Child Health Examination portion of the School Code under Section 665.240 Basic Immunizations.  It states:

Beginning with school year 2011-12, any child entering sixth grade shall show proof (see Section 665.250(b) of receiving one dose of Tdap (defined as tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last DTaP, DT, or Td dose.

Students entering grades seven through 12 who have not already received Tdap are required to receive 1 Tdap dose regardless of the interval since the last DTaP, DT, Td dose.

Many of the students have received a vaccination in the last few years to boost their pertussis immunity.  Many of these immunizations have been documented on physical forms as a DTP, DTaP, Pediatric DT, or Td, and not specifically a Tdap.  The Illinois Department of Public Health has stated that each child must show documented proof of having received a Tdap immunization.

If your child has not received a Tdap immunization, they will be required to do so by October 15, 2012 or be excluded from school until they can show proof of having received it.  If your child has recently received an immunization, but needs verification that it was a Tdap immunization that was given, you will be notified by a letter in the mail.

Please feel free to contact the health office if you have any questions about this amendment.

 Homework Hotline

Where is your assignment notebook?  Oh, no!  You forgot to write down the assignment!

You've been absent and have tons of work to make up but what is it?

I think there is a test coming up!

Panic sets in...

...but don't worry you are only a few simple clicks away from the needed information your teachers posted on the Homework Hotline.  Simply go to the district web page at www.lisle202.org and click on the Junior High School tab.  Look on the left side of the screen for the Homework Hotline button and click.  Then click on the date you were absent to view the assignments for that day.

Homework Hotline is not a replacement for being a responsible student.  The best way to stay organized is to use your assignment notebook.  We would encourage parents to continue to check your student's assignment notebooks each day as well.   As always, if you have any questions you may contact the classroom teacher.  (E-mail addresses are the teachers' first initial and last name, followed by @lisle202.org)
